Despite which type of shackle you're going to use; it will anyway consist of two main parts: a body and the pin (or bolt). The shackles' body must be horseshoe-shaped, and the hook is attached through both ends of the loop to create a secure connection. The bolts are often threaded partly or wholly, but they can work out as bonds with a cross-hole covered for a split pin or tang to hold them in one spot.

D-type Shackles:
D-type shackles are also known as chain shackles, composed of a D shaped body that's narrower than the other widely flared 'O' form, as seen in most anchor or bow shackles. They're among the most common types of shackles found in a massive range of everyday scenarios. They are usually closed with a threaded pin or clevis-type pin and are seen as a moderate choice for lifting heavy loads.
Anchor Shackles:
Usually, anchor shackles are also known as bow shackles; they are widely flared and made in O shape. One of the key advantages of using anchor shackles is that they're better equipped for handling multiple loads from various directions. They don't load on one side as the body's rounded shape makes them able to support heavier payloads at different points in the circumference. Moreover, anchor shackles are more weight tolerant than D-shaped shackles.
